Scripts to Read the City

In collaboration with Mania Napiórkowska

Rotterdam
2024

The project began with a shared curiosity about how we might publish while being outdoors. We realized that urban spaces are already heavily scripted, full of rules and signs that guide our actions. We wanted to reclaim the idea of a script, but one that invites interpretation. Our aim was to imagine a different way of moving through space - led by curiosity and a playful
narrative.
The project consists of two interconnected parts: Device to Read the City – a tube for seeing and listening, and a publication with navigations.

We have shared this project through workshops, inviting others to join the game. These sessions focus on writing scripts for navigating the city in unexpected ways, encouraging new perspectives on everyday spaces.

The project was also selected to be part of the Manifest.io festival in Berlin and SPREAD Zine Fest in Groningen, where we had the opportunity to present and explore it with a wider audience.
